Description

The Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) is holding a public meeting to discuss the possible inclusion of Comal County-related projects on the agency’s short-term Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP).

The TIP lays out the priorities for transportation projects over the next four years, and public meetings are a crucial part of that process,” said Tom Hornseth, Comal County Engineer. A public meeting for Comal County projects will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, at the New Braunfels Civic/Convention Center, 375 S. Castell Ave.

One of the factors the MPO looks at is how engaged our residents are, and they determine that by looking at attendance at our public meetings,” Hornseth said. “The more people who attend, the better our chances of getting Comal County projects included in the TIP.”

Comal County is seeking funding for an expansion of FM 2252 between the county line and FM 3009 in the southern corner of the county. The estimated $26.2 million project would complete a four-lane road running parallel to Interstate 35 between FM 3009 and Loop 1604, providing relief for Comal County drivers commuting to San Antonio. It was one of 41 projects, totaling more than $414 million submitted for consideration. The TIP is expected to schedule about $100 million in projects.
