Great Texas Birding Classic "Big Sit!"

The Friends of Guadalupe River State Park and Honey Creek State Natural Area are sponsoring a Big Sit as part of the Great Birding Classic.

How many birds can YOU spot from within a 17-foot circle?

The Friends of Guadalupe River State Park/Honey Creek State Natural Area are sponsoring our team, the Guadalupe River Raptors, in the statewide Great Texas Birding Classic. Stop by our “Big Sit!”, often called a tailgate party for birders, and experience the fun of birdwatching.

Volunteers and staff will be on hand, ready to share their love of birding, and we’ll have plenty of extra sets of binoculars for you to look through as well.

Bring a lawn chair and a snack to share (if you like) and stay for an hour or stay for the day! All ages and skill levels welcome.

We have about 10 spots still available for the birding competition. Come help us find out how many birds we see or hear from a 17-foot diameter circle. If you are an avid birder or just learning you are welcome to join our Guadalupe River Raptors team. As a sponsored team there is no fee and you get a t-shirt!

You can join us for the day or choose a shift.
