Description
We will be having the Platelet Bus stop by on the third Saturday on each month from 10:30am-2:30pm. Sign-ups will be taken on the South Texas Blood and Tissue website, www.southtexasblood.org, or this link DONATE FOR LIFE. Donors will receive a giftcard for donating courtesy of the South Texas Blood and Tissue Center.

Who needs platelets?
People who have traumatic injuries need platelets beyond what their bodies can produce. People who are undergoing cancer treatments need platelets, because the treatments can reduce the amount of platelets their bodies produce. And people who are receiving transplants often need them as well.
Why should I donate platelets?
- They’re in high demand, especially for cancer patients.
- They have a short shelf life, typically five days or less.
